A-bombed Tree

Camphor trees
(Shinjonomiya Shrine)
1-1-9 Omiya, Nishi-ku, Hiroshima (Shinjonomiya Shrine)

  (2022.5.5)

The city of Hiroshima has not designated these trees as being exposed to the atomic bombing,
but they are said to be over 500 years old, so there is no doubt that the trees here have also been exposed to the atomic bombing.
It is an oasis-like place in the middle of the city, and it is a shrine with a lot of greenery.
The two large camphor trees at the entrance of the shrine are called “husband and wife camphor trees”
and provide a large shade for people. The tree has good vigor and dense foliage.
You can also see flowers because it is the time of fresh green.

If you pass by the camphor tree and go west, you will see a slanted Muku tree.
The age of the tree is unknown, but there is no doubt that this tree was also exposed to the atomic bomb.
Before the atomic bombing, Hiroshima had lush greenery like this shrine.

(2023.3.25)

The camphor tree was in the season of changing leaves,
and new leaves were beginning to appear.
Old leaves that have fallen at the base,
grass that has begun to grow in spring,
and red camellia flowers have fallen in the back.

Muku leaves have not come out yet.
Many camellia flowers are falling under my feet.
It's a good time to see camellias.
